Michelle Smith, Republican for Michigan House, District 58
Dear 58th District Residents,
My name is Michelle Smith and I'm running to be your next State Representative in the new 58th Michigan House District. I firmly believe that my life experiences, both personal and professional, will make me a very effective and tough legislator.
I am a cancer survivor. My husband and I have two young children. He is a law enforcement officer in Macomb County. I am also a small business owner. All these experiences will serve me well when standing up for the conservative values I share with so many and allow me to work with other legislators to get things accomplished.
As a conservative Republican, I believe the role of state government should be to maintain a balanced budget, promote the growth of industry, population, tourism, and quality of life for its residents, and seek constant improvement and efficiency in infrastructure, governmental agencies, and the education system.
I am running because I believe our children and our children’s children deserve schools that are safe and provide a world class education that prepares them to begin more advanced training or education to enter the workforce. We have shortages of workers in so many industries and skilled labor professions. And yet we continue to produce college graduates with increasing debt loads to go into a workforce that is giving them little return on investment. I believe in a small government with fewer regulations that encourages the private sector to flourish. The government should exist to be fiscally responsible, ensure security for its citizens without trampling on their rights, and not get heavily involved in social issues.
I humbly ask that you support my candidacy and I welcome any questions and comments that you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact me and I look forward to meeting you in the coming months as I will be going door-to-door.
Sincerely,
Michelle Smith
